UK EPR design acceptance

iDAC/iSoDA

In December 2011, ONR and the Environment Agency granted interim design acceptance to the UK EPR Reactor Design.

The Interim Design Acceptance Confirmations (iDAC) and interim Statements of Design Acceptability (iSoDA) were issued by the regulators following the completion of the planned assessment of the safety, security and environmental cases proposed by EDF/Areva. By issuing the interim documents, ONR and the Environment Agency confirm they are satisfied with how designers plan to resolve the 31 outstanding GDA Issues.

Having completed the planned assessment of the safety, security and environmental cases for the UK EPR, the regulators published a series of, Summary and technical Assessment Reports on their respective websites summarising the basis of their decision.

DAC/SoDA

In December 2011, ONR and the Environment Agency granted Interim Design Acceptance Confirmations (iDAC) and interim Statements of Design Acceptability (iSoDA) for the UK EPR Reactor Design. This identified 31 GDA Issues that needed to be resolved before ONR could consider granting a final Design Acceptance Confirmation (DAC). Since then, EDF and AREVA have provided additional safety submissions and proposed additional modifications to address these Issues.

Having completed the planned assessment of the additional safety submissions and proposed additional modifications to address these Issues, the regulators published a series of summary and technical Assessment Reports on their respective websites. On the basis that all the GDA Issues identified in the iDAC had now been resolved and closed, ONR and the Environment Agency granted Design Acceptance Confirmations (DAC) and Statements of Design Acceptability (SoDA) for the UK EPR Reactor Design in December 2012.
