The ONR has published its Annual Plan for 2015/16.
The plan sets out the ONR’s priorities, as well as providing details of the year’s planned activities and establishing our key targets.
Nick Baldwin, Chair, ONR said: “The Annual Plan highlights the breadth and depth of the important work the ONR undertakes to provide efficient and effective regulation of the nuclear industry holding it to account on behalf of the public.”
The ONR’s priorities include hazard reduction and remediation at Sellafield, assessing the safety and security implications of new nuclear reactors and their construction and maintaining focus on our core purpose of regulating the hazards arising from the UK’s nuclear sites and ensuring effective security arrangements are in place.
Les Philpott, Acting Chief Executive, ONR said: “It’s been a year since the ONR became an independent public corporation, and our aim is to consolidate the good work we have done so far, while continuing to seek business improvements securing ONR as a stable and sustainable organisation. The Chief Nuclear Inspector - the regulatory head of ONR – will ensure that we provide visible, evidence-based assurance that we deliver excellent regulation, proportionate to the hazards and risks involved.”
