The Office for Nuclear Regulation has welcomed its new Chief Executive, Adriènne Kelbie.
Adriènne joins ONR from the Disclosure and Barring Service and succeeds Les Philpott who has been Acting Chief Executive since March 2015.
As she embarked on her new role, Adriènne said:
“ I am looking forward to meeting as many of ONR’s staff and key stakeholders as possible in my first few weeks as Chief Executive, to get a strong understanding of the key issues and challenges facing both the organisation and the wider nuclear industry.
"It is an exciting time for ONR, and I am keen to build on the successes achieved so far and lead the organisation to achieve its vision to be an exemplary regulator that inspires respect, trust and confidence.”
As Chief Executive, Adriènne will also be ONR’s Accounting Officer, directly accountable to Parliament to demonstrate that ONR manages its resources effectively. Adriènne has valuable skills and experience to fulfil this role and will lead the organisation and take forward ONR’s strategy and key priorities.
Acting Chief Nuclear Inspector, Richard Savage will continue to be accountable for all regulatory decisions.
