Sir Simon Lister stepped down from the Office for Nuclear Regulation's (ONR) Board on 30 November 2022, after four and a half years as a Non-Executive Director, to take up a role on the Board of Sellafield Limited.
Sir Simon’s extensive experience and expertise in the defence nuclear sector and in major programme management in heavy engineering will be a real asset in contributing to the oversight of one of the most complex nuclear facilities in Europe.
Mark McAllister, the Chair of ONR’s Board, thanked Sir Simon for his significant support and commitment to the organisation through some challenging times, including the global Covid pandemic, and wished him well for the future in this new venture.
ONR is currently taking the required steps to fill the residual ONR Board post on an interim basis whilst at the same time conducting an open competition to fill the post substantively.
