Mark McAllister has been reappointed as Chair of the Office for Nuclear Regulation’s (ONR) Board for an additional three years, until 31 March 2027.
Mark has served as Chair of the ONR since April 2019 and is an engineer by profession, with extensive experience in the international oil industry where he held several chief executive posts.
He is also the non-executive Chair of the Oasis Charitable Trust and a Management Committee Member of the Public Chairs’ Forum.

Mark said: “I am delighted to have been reappointed as Chair of ONR for three more years, giving me the opportunity to contribute further to the development of the organisation.
“The Board is determined that ONR remains a professional and highly-respected regulator while optimising its efficiency so that it is fit for the challenges ahead.
“The UK government has identified a significant role for nuclear power in its Energy Security Strategy, and the presence of an effective, independent and agile regulator to ensure the safe and secure delivery of these ambitions is crucial.”
