Information requested
Whilst an undergraduate at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College (now Royal Holloway) I carried out my 3rd year project in Gamma Ray Spectroscopy at Silwood Park. This would have been between October 1990 to May 1991. I would like to seek access to my dosimetry records for the time I spent there. Please could you advise as to who I should contact in order to obtain these records.
Information released
We have conducted a thorough search of our document systems and we can confirm that under Section 1 of the FOIA, we do not hold the information in scope to your request.
UK legislation since 1986 requires employers to retain copies of dose records for their employees who are designated as classified radiation workers, for at least 30 years. Therefore, we only hold personal dose records of our own employees.
Further Information
As a student it is likely that you were not a classified person under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 1985 (in place at the time). This remains the same under the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017. Therefore, there would have been no legal requirement for the colleges to keep your dose records.
However, we have set out some further information below that may be of assistance in obtaining your dosimetry records for your time spent at Royal Holloway and Bedford New College between October 1990 to May 1991. We hope you find this information helpful.
