I kindly request if you could share any research papers, articles, or books that you have written on the geological disposal facility and the storage containers used within the facility.

We confirm that under s.1 of the FOIA, we hold some information relevant to your request. However, this information is available on our website therefore we are refusing your request under s.21 of the FOIA, information reasonably accessible to the applicant by other means.  

All relevant information in relation to a geological disposal facility (GDF) and the disposal of radioactive waste in a GDF is publicly available on the Geological disposal page of our website.

Further information

Nuclear Waste Services (NWS) is the organisation that will develop and operate a GDF. The NWS website includes much information on its plans for GDF, the types of waste packages that will be used and how it gains assurance that waste packages are safe for disposal.

NWS (formerly known as Radioactive Waste Management Ltd) has also made available a range of scientific and technical information relating to geological disposal through the national archive at the following weblinks GDF Bibliography (2007 to 2021) and Geological Disposal – Bibliography Summary 1983-2007
