Aim of inspection
The purpose of the inspection was to review Active Collection Bureau Limited’s arrangements associated with the road transport of radioactive material. ONR carried out this inspection at Active Collection Bureau Limited on 24/01/2023.

Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made
The inspector sampled the arrangements deployed by Active Collection Bureau Limited for the safe transport of radioactive materials, including the associated arrangements for protecting workers against the effects of ionising radiations and reducing risks as low as reasonably practicable (ALARP). The inspector compared relevant statutory requirements with both prescribed arrangements and actual practice.
A number of examples of the duty-holder meeting relevant good practice in reducing risk to levels that are as low as reasonably practicable were identified, including provision of spare packagings and provision of RPS training for all staff on site, including office based staff with negligible contact with RAM. No non-compliances were identified during the inspection.
During the inspection, the inspector also suggested certain improvements to transport practices that would be prudent for Active Collection Bureau Limited to consider.
Conclusion
There were no aspects of the transport operations inspected that, in my opinion, were not in compliance with either IRR17 or CDG regulations. No non-compliances were identified during this inspection.
