Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made
I led a routine compliance inspection of Dounreay's LC28 (Examination, Inspection, Maintenance and Testing) arrangements at the Shaft and Silo facilities.
The inspection included an overview of the maintenance arrangements for both facilities, as well as a demonstration of how these arrangements reflect the safety case.
I sampled a number of preventative and corrective work orders, as well as the training records for the individuals involved in carrying out the respective work orders. I am satisfied that the work orders were adequately completed and that the training records for those personnel assigned to the task are complete and up to date.
During the inspection I visited both the Shaft and Silo facilities and sampled plant equipment. I found that the equipment sampled was in working order and housed in appropriate conditions.
Overall, I judge that the LC28 arrangements at the Shaft and Silo facilities to be adequately implemented and therefore judge that a rating of Green be applied for this inspection.
Conclusion
Based on my sampling and the evidence provided by Dounreay, I am satisfied that the LC28 arrangements at the Shaft and Silo facilities are adequately implemented. I judge that an ONR inspection rating of Green is appropriate for this intervention.
