Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made
I, the Site Inspector for Spent Fuel Services, a Specialist Radiation Protection Advisor Inspector, and a trainee Specialist Radiation Protection Advisor Inspector undertook an Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) inspection at the Spent Fuel Services (SFS) Operating Unit at the Sellafield Site.
The inspection focussed on compliance with IRR17 across SFS and we undertook a plant walkdown of the Fuel Handling Plant.
We found that SFS is broadly compliant with the requirements of IRR17 and there were no issues that required immediate regulatory attention. Regulatory advice was given in relation to radiation risk assessments and there was a minor maintenance shortfall identified and regulatory advice was also given over this matter.
We rated the inspection as Green (no formal action).
