Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made

This inspection was carried out to support the provision of advice to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for the issue of a consent under IRR17 Regulation 7. The depth and scope of the inspection was tailored to this purpose, there was no advanced documentation provided by the dutyholder and the dutyholder is aware that a more detailed review of their documentation will be carried out before final advice to HSE is provided.

The inspector reviewed a range of topics and identified a number of examples of the dutyholder documentation being suitable and sufficient,  including Local Rules, Radiation Risk Assessment, Emergency/Contingency plans and in-transit storage facility.

The security aspects of in-transit storage and exchange of radioactive material were discussed, however as this is not a specific aspect of the consent process and there have been recent changes in guidance this topic was not rated.

The inspector identified no areas of non-compliance however gave advice for improvement on a number of topics.

Conclusion

The inspection findings were presented to the dutyholder at the close of the inspection.

I judged an overall inspection rating of 'Green - no formal action.
