Aim of inspection
This is the second of a series of inspections planned for 2024 which is aimed at seeking evidence of adequate leadership, decision making and learning in the AWE plc Technology Centres to support safe delivery of the AWE programme and inform ONR decisions on regulatory attention levels for 2025.
This inspection will sample PTC.

This planned inspection was carried out at AWE Aldermaston and sampled evidence of leadership, decision-making and learning at the Head of Technology Centre level.
ONR’s expectations for relevant good practice are the Safety Assessment Principles (SAPs) for Nuclear Facilities (MS.1, MS.3 and MS.4).
This was a non-rated inspection.
On the basis of evidence sampled, I judge that relevant good practice was met for leadership, decision making and learning. I found evidence of areas of good practice and also an area that AWE should consider reviewing.
Conclusion
On the basis of the evidence sampled, I judge that AWE met relevant good practice for leadership, decision-making and learning.
