Aim of inspection

The aim of this inspection was to examine compliance with Licence Condition 11 relating to emergency equipment required in support of Hinkley Point B's emergency arrangements.

Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made

This inspection reviewed Hinkley Point B's arrangements for emergency equipment and sampled the availability, maintenance and security of that equipment. This was achieved through a combination of sampling records and documented arrangements and through inspection of facilities. Overall, the sites arrangements and their implementation adequately satisfied regulatory expectations with respect to safety and security. Throughout the inspection a number of areas of both good practice and minor opportunities for improvement were observed that have been shared with site.

Conclusion

From the evidence sampled I judge that Hinkley Point B adequately demonstrated compliance with the emergency equipment aspects of LC11 including associated security aspects and therefore a rating of Green (no formal action) is merited.
