The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Minister for Pensions has agreed to the appointment of Dame Sue Gray for a period of 12 months from 1 February 2023 as a Non-Executive Director of the Office for Nuclear Regulation.
This post is to fill an existing vacancy whilst DWP recruit a permanent replacement.
Dame Sue has a background in engineering and was previously Air Marshal in the UK Armed Forces. Her more recent roles include Director General (CEO) of the Defence Safety Authority (DSA); Air Officer Commanding 38 Group Royal Air Force (RAF); and Director of Combat Air at Defence Equipment and Support in the Ministry of Defence.
She is a Director/Trustee of the Armed Forces Equine Charity, and is a lifelong STEM Ambassador and diversity role model for Defence.
The Commissioner for Public Appointments has been consulted under paragraph 3.3 of the Governance Code by DWP to make this appointment, exceptionally, without a competition.
