Nick Baldwin CBE, Chair of the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), welcomes Sir Simon Lister to the ONR Board following his recent appointment by the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions as a Non-Executive Director. His appointment will commence on 5 March 2018 for a four year term.
Predominantly experienced in the Defence nuclear sector, Simon brings to the Board major programme management experience in heavy engineering in nuclear power. He has extensive experience of complex procurement programmes and change leadership from senior government roles at the Ministry of Defence. Operating at Board level, Simon has led serial improvements in the naval procurement and support sector, through organisational and cultural change, commercial renegotiation and supply chain performance management.
Simon is a graduate of the Sloan Fellowship, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and a graduate of the Major Projects Leadership Academy. He was appointed Managing Director of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance in September overseeing the building of the Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers.
