Dungeness B

Dungeness B is a twin reactor advanced gas-cooled (AGR) station. In June 2021 Dungeness B  announced that with immediate effect  it has ended its generation activities and has now entered the defueling phase of its life which is expected to take several years.

Hartlepool

Hartlepool uses two advanced gas-cooled reactors (AGR). It was only the third nuclear power station in the United Kingdom to use AGR technology. It was also the first power station to be built as close to a major urban area.

Heysham 1

Heysham 1 is made up of two advanced gas-cooled reactors and is similar in design to Hartlepool. EDF have recently communicated their decision to extend the generating lifetime of the station to March 2027, subject to an adequate demonstration of safety.

Heysham 2

Heysham 2 has two advanced gas reactors (AGR) and is capable of supplying over 2.5 million homes - enough electricity to keep three cities the size of Liverpool supplied during peak loading hours.

Sizewell B

Sizewell B is an operating pressurised water reactor, capable of supplying 2.5 million homes, around 3% of the UK's entire electricity needs.
