Sarah has spent most of her career in the financial services sector. Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant, she moved into investment management where she focussed on strategic business development, including the development of liability-driven and absolute return investment solutions for institutional investors.
Since moving to a portfolio career in 2008, Sarah has held a number of non-executive and trustee positions in the financial, pensions and social investment sectors. In 2021 she became Chair of The Pensions Regulator, having served as Chair of the Audit and Risk Assurance Committee there since 2016. She has also chaired the Audit Committees for Big Society Capital and UK Athletics and chaired the Risk Committee for the London Pension Funds Authority.
Sarah was the Lead Reviewer for the Tailored Review of the Health and Safety Executive in 2018 and in 2022 sponsored a project on Diversity in Public Appointments with the Public Chairs Forum.
