The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) has signed up to the BBC’s 50:50 Equality Project as part of its commitment to diversity and inclusion.
The partnership, which launches on International Women’s Day, will see ONR measure the diversity of its internal and external creative content and increase its representation of women.
Starting in 2017 when one BBC News presenter created a new approach to increase the representation of women, more than 600 BBC teams from across news, sport, factual and entertainment have now signed up as well as more than 80 external organisations across the media, legal and corporate sectors.
Marking ONR’s partnership with the BBC, ONR Director of Policy and Communications Katie Day said it’s important to build on the good work already being done.
Katie said: “We’re excited to announce our partnership with the BBC, which further shows our commitment to diversity and inclusion and builds on the progress we’ve made on gender balance so far.
“It’s vital that we’re able to create an inclusive culture which provides equal access to all and fully harnesses our collective abilities and supports our people to excel.”
Nina Goswami, the BBC’s Creative Diversity Lead for 50:50, added: “We are delighted the Office for Nuclear Regulation has joined 50:50 The Equality Project, which is now a global partnership of more than 80 organisations across 23 countries.
“I believe together we can continue to build on the great work ONR has already started to diversify representation, not only within its own organisation but across industry. We’re very much looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
