Babcock Critical Services Limited complies with improvement notice

The Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) can confirm that Babcock Critical Services Limited has complied with an improvement notice served in August.

In recent months, the contractor has put in place a suitable risk assessment to restrict the exposure of workers to ionising radiation from uranium hexafluoride and triuranium octoxide on the Urenco UK Ltd. site at Capenhurst, near Chester, Cheshire.

No workers were harmed as a result of the identified shortfall, and there was no impact on the public or the environment.

ONR has worked closely with Babcock Critical Services Limited and is satisfied they have completed the necessary requirements of the notice.

The improvement notice was served due to breaches of Section 2(1) of the Health and Safety At Work etc. Act 1974, and Regulation 8(1) of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017.
