Could you please let me know if there’s any information available on the unplanned shutdown of the Reactor 2 at Torness in the early morning of 12 June 2023?

We confirm that under s.1 of the FOIA, we hold the information you have requested. Please find attached three documents.
The first document attached entitled ‘Torness - INF-3067’ is the initial incident notification form provided to ONR by Torness following the reactor trip. It is important to note that other “Grid Instability” events are also captured in this incident form, however these did not lead to a reactor trip.
The second document attached entitled ‘EDF Energy NGL Torness Power Station Grid Disturbances Discussion - 28 June 2023’, is the ONR Electrical Specialist Inspectors contact record documenting our follow up to the incident on 12 June 2023 which led to Reactor 2 trip. It is important to note that this contact record also includes follow up of the subsequent “Grid Instability” issues experienced at Torness which did not lead to a reactor trip.
The third document attached entitled ‘ONR Follow up Brief AVR Trip’ is the Torness incident follow up report, this report was forwarded to ONR following the incident on conclusion of EDF’s internal investigation into the incident.
