The revised policy, which has received Secretary of State consent, has been updated following extensive engagement with industry and government to reflect recent changes in government security policy and signpost relevant good practice, including that issued by the UK’s National Technical Authorities.
The Classification Policy highlights the various categories of Sensitive Nuclear Information (SNI) that require protection and the level of classification to be applied. It is to be implemented in conjunction with HM Governments’ (HMG) Government Security Classifications Policy (GSCP) and Government Functional Standard GovS 007: Security.
This Classification Policy provides non-prescriptive guidance on the types of documents that may or may not contain SNI, and a framework for dutyholders to compile their own detailed organisation-specific classification scheme as part of an overarching programme of information assurance
