Aim of inspection

The purpose of the inspection was to review compliance of the dutyholder’s arrangements for Class 7 dangerous goods (radioactive material) for road transport, covering carrier duties.

Key findings, inspector's opinions and reasons for judgement made

The inspectors reviewed a range of topics and identified a number of examples of CitySprint meeting relevant good practice in reducing risk to levels that are ALARP, including having appropriate IRR17 Regulation 6 Registration, appropriate appointment of Safety Advisers and Radiation Protection Supervisors, having a transport Radiation Risk Assessment, Local Rules and emergency arrangements, Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers Annual Report and a management system. No non-compliances were identified but the inspectors made some observations regarding improvements to CitySprint's arrangements in line with relevant good practice.

Conclusion

The inspection findings were presented to CitySprint at the close of the inspection. We judged an overall inspection rating of green was appropriate for this inspection. No non-compliances were identified but the inspectors made some observations regarding improvements to CitySprint's arrangements in line with relevant good practice. These observations should be considered against all CitySprint sites transporting Class 7 dangerous goods.
