Aim of inspection
The purpose of the inspection was to review compliance of Jacobs Clear Energy Limited’s arrangements for class 7 radioactive material for road transport, covering consignor, consignee and carrier duties.

Key findings, inspector’s opinions and reasons for judgement made
The inspector reviewed a range of topics and identified a number of examples of Jacobs Clean Energy Ltd meeting relevant good practice in reducing risk to levels that are ALARP, including appropriate appointments of Dangerous Goods Safety Advisers (DGSAs) and Radiation Protection Advisers (RPAs) and having appropriate DGSA and RPA annual reports, the appropriate appointment of Radiation Protection Supervisors (RPSs) and the provision of appropriate RPS training, having transport radiation risk assessments, having contingency plans and testing of contingency plans in conjunction with carriers and having an appropriate management system. The inspector also confirmed the presence of a sample of Safeguarded nuclear material held from a list provided by the ONR Safeguards team.
No non-compliances were identified, but the inspector made some observations regarding improvements to Jacobs Clean Energy Ltd arrangements in line with relevant good practice.
Conclusion
The inspection findings were presented to Jacobs Clean Energy Ltd at the close of the inspection.
I judged an overall inspection rating of ‘Green – no formal action’ was appropriate for this inspection.
